Hello.
I’m Kendra, a writer, podcaster, and researcher based in north-central Florida. I’m AuDHD and have lifelong mental health challenges that I manage through a committed creative practice. Sometimes it works.
Join me on my podcast, Stepping Off Now, where I chronicle my efforts to feel at ease in my body and the world while I attempt to fulfill my childhood dream of being a published novelist. It’s a little bit dark and a little bit visceral, but always honest.
Some facts about me: I have a social science PhD (political science). I’ve lived in six different countries and speak four languages (or used to…if you don’t use ‘em, you lose ‘em). I have three dogs, a cat, and a flock of chickens. I spend 98% of my time alone and I’m okay with that. I’ve never been married nor do I have children, and I’m okay with that. I overshare on my podcast because I’m for some reason compelled to, but also because I believe in the power of personal stories to help others who struggle in similar ways. At the very least, I want to help other neurodivergent creatives feel less alone in their difference. After a lifetime of confusion and struggle I finally realized I am neurodivergent after I finished a novel about a woman who it turns out is also neurodivergent. That novel, which is my fifth by the way, got me an agent and is now out on sub.
